On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, the Coxsackie-Athens Middle School welcomed members from the local American Legion Posts to do a presentation on the meaning of the folding of the flag and the story of TAPS. The members present represented the Coxsackie, Athens and Catskill Posts. The program began with the 7/8 band playing the Star Spangled Banner. After the National Anthem was played, the program was turned over to the American Legion. There are 13 folds to the flag and with each fold, the meaning of each fold was read. Following the flag presentation, the history and the meaning of TAPS was explained to the students followed by the playing of TAPS by CA Junior Sam Mozzillo. We concluded the program with taking a moment to recognize and remember our own Class of 2020 graduate LCPL Colby Lord who recently passed away.
