Middle School students are scientists and mathematicians. Students use their iPad camera to record Science experiments and analyze scientific data using Numbers.  They then take what they learn and create informational pieces using Clips. Students created a call to action to teach others about the invasive species the black-headed carp. 5th graders explained how the lung works in relation to other systems.

Students are also writers and journalists publishing informational and fictional texts that they wrote. For example, a 5th grader researched and created a Clips video on the extinction of animals. Another 5th grader describes the horrors of animal abuse.  8th grade students wrote short stories that include the elements of a story and published the story using iMovie.

The American Sign Language class extensively integrates technology. Middle school students created a virtual ABC book recording themselves signing.

Throughout the year teachers and students take pictures of the different activities. Those pictures are put together using iMovie to celebrate the end of another school year.

Coxsackie-Athens Middle School is a 5 through 8 school with approximately 375 students in rural Greene County. The school has had one-to-one devices since 2015.
