On January 21, 2016 the Board of Education adopted a proposal for a three-part capital project. The project includes the same scope of work as the December 15, 2015 Capital Project proposal, however, based on feedback from the community, the Board decided to put the relocation of the MS library and the installation of a synthetic turf athletic field up for vote as separate propositions. The public vote will be March 22nd.
PROPOSITION #1: Safety and security improvements and needed repairs at all schools; renovations to educational, library, visual and performing arts spaces, repair/widen track at HS; installation of hardtop recess area at MS; parking lot and sidewalk reconfigurations at Athens and Coxsackie campuses – Cost: $15,636,000 (Base Project).
PROPOSITION #2: Relocate MS library adjacent to HS library, provide additional media center/library space; repurpose current MS library space for science lab, OT/ PT services, and group gathering/collaborative project space – Cost: $899,000 (Dependent on passage of Proposition 1).
PROPOSITION #3: Replace grass field inside widened track with synthetic turf to allow year-round use for PE classes and all sports teams – Cost: $1,365,000 (Dependent on passage of Proposition 1).
