The Coxsackie-Athens School community believes effective instruction leads to successful learning. We support that belief by providing our teachers a daily period of time we call our Professional Learning Period (PLP) prior to student arrival to collaborate with colleagues regarding the four learning questions of a professional learning community. We provide support to new teachers through formal 1:1 mentoring as well as sustained work with our teacher leaders. The administration also facilitates quarterly training focused on effective teaching aligned to our observation rubric.
The Coxsackie-Athens Central School District has been an Apple Distinguished School District and has been ranked as 1st in the nation as a Digital School District by the National School Boards Association. Coxsackie-Athens has a 1:1 iPad program in grades K-12 and is also a fully integrated Google Apps for Education district. Teachers receive a laptop and iPad in order to model the effective use of digital resources. Daily professional learning and coaching takes place for all teaching staff within the work day.
