Coxsackie-Athens Central School District Welcomes New Business Official, Kimberly Nugent
Coxsackie, NY — — The Coxsackie-Athens Central School District is pleased to announce that Kimberly Nugent began her responsibilities as the district’s new School Business Official starting today. Ms. Nugent brings extensive experience in school business management, budgeting, and operations, as well as a strong commitment to supporting educational excellence through sound financial stewardship.
Superintendent Randy Squier shared his enthusiasm for the appointment, noting, “Kim’s depth of knowledge, leadership experience, and collaborative approach make her an excellent fit for our district. Her expertise will ensure that our financial systems continue to support the success of our students and staff.
Ms. Nugent joins Coxsackie-Athens from the Averill Park Central School District, where she served as Director of Personnel Development. In this role, she oversaw human resources and payroll operations for over 500 employees across six buildings, managed critical HR and financial systems, and maintained relationships with multiple bargaining units. Her efforts contributed to efficient operations and enhanced support for both staff and students.
Prior to joining Averill Park Central School District Ms. Nugent served as Assistant District Director of Human Resources for the Schenectady City School District, managing personnel operations for a large staff of over 1,700 employees and working with multiple bargaining units. Earlier in her career, Ms. Nugent also contributed at the regional and school levels as a summer school principal, instructional data coach, and social studies teacher, demonstrating a broad base of educational and management experience
She holds an Advanced Graduate Certificate in School District Business Leadership from the College of Saint Rose, an Advanced Graduate Certificate in School Building and District Leadership, a Master of Science in Secondary Education from The College of Saint Rose, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Sacred Heart University. Ms. Nugent maintains several New York State professional certifications, including School District Business Leader and School District Leader
In her new role, Ms. Nugent will oversee all aspects of the district’s financial operations, including budget development, payroll, purchasing, and capital project management. She will also work closely with the Board of Education and district leadership team to ensure the responsible use of district resources in support of student learning
