Preparing for a Smooth Transition: Updates from E.J.A Elementary and Coxsackie Elementary
Our teams at E.J.A Elementary and Coxsackie Elementary have been hard at work preparing for the upcoming school year. Every step is focused on creating a smooth and welcoming transition for students and families as we look ahead to the 2026-27 school year. E.J.A Elementary
The E.J.A. team has been busy laying the groundwork for a successful start to the school year by:
Finalizing student class placements.
Developing a process for new student registrations and kindergarten screenings.
Reviewing classroom locations and coordinating room move logistics to ensure everything is ready before students arrive.
Planning for academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports.
Developing daily schedules, including instructional blocks, intervention time, specials, and arrival and dismissal procedures.
Collaborating as a team to create a consistent and welcoming experience for all kindergarten students and their families.
Coxsackie Elementary
The Coxsackie Elementary team has also been preparing for a successful school year by:
Reviewing student placements.
Determining instructional responsibilities for each teacher.
Planning classroom rotations.
Developing daily schedules.
Creating schedules for push-in and pull-out special education supports.
Finalizing grade-level supply lists.
Establishing team-wide expectations to provide a consistent learning experience for students.
Transition Activities
Several events have already helped students become familiar with their new school and build excitement for the year ahead.
EJA/CES Meet & Greet (June 18):
Students toured Coxsackie Elementary, met future classmates through team-building activities, and enjoyed a PTO-sponsored treat.
EJA Celebration:
Third grade students celebrated their final days at E.J. Arthur with pizza, games, and time on the playground.
Classroom Support:
E.J.A. teachers incorporated transition conversations into morning meetings, giving students opportunities to ask questions and learn about the move to Coxsackie Elementary.
Family Communication:
Families received information outlining transition activities and details about upcoming summer meet and greets.
Summer Meet & Greets:
Additional gatherings throughout the summer will help students make new friends and feel more comfortable before the first day of school.

2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at McQuade Park
July 30:
3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Happy Clown and the adjacent playground
August 11:
4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Riverside Park in Coxsackie
August 26:
3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Athens Riverfront Park
