Coxsackie-Athens Central School District conducted a district-wide evacuation drill today as part of its ongoing commitment to preparedness and student and staff safety.
During the drill, students and staff at all schools safely evacuated their buildings and followed procedures to their designated evacuation areas. Staff worked with students to ensure everyone remained together and followed directions throughout the process.
We coordinated with local officials from both Athens and Coxsackie including the mayor’s offices and fire departments. Additionally Coxsackie PD and Athens PD were instrumental in keeping students safe and controlling traffic at all intersections. The Questar III Health and Safety team helped plan the highly successful event. The drill provided an opportunity for students and staff to practice the procedures they would follow during an actual emergency. Our students did an excellent job following procedures and directions throughout the drill, and we are incredibly proud of how seriously they took the opportunity to practice being prepared and keeping one another safe.
Coxsackie-Athens regularly conducts safety drills to ensure students and staff are familiar with emergency procedures and that the district is prepared to respond to a variety of situations.
“We are very proud of how well our students and staff handled today’s drill,” said Superintendent Dr. Daniel Kalbfliesh. “Drills like this are an important part of our commitment to being prepared for any situation and keeping the safety and well-being of our students and staff our top priority.”
