EJA was full of excitement on October 21 as students, staff, and special guests gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the newly upgraded EJA playground!
While students have been enjoying the playground throughout the school year, the space recently received some exciting upgrades, including fresh mulch and brand-new playground equipment. The improvements gave students even more opportunities to get outside, play, and enjoy time with their classmates.
The celebration kicked off with a special relay race featuring two classes split into teams, putting their speed and teamwork to the test on the new playground equipment. Students brought plenty of excitement to the friendly competition, giving everyone a fun way to celebrate the improvements!
Following the race, the school community gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the upgraded playground. Coxsackie-Athens Superintendent of Schools Dr. Daniel Kalbfliesh joined the celebration, along with special guests from our local community, including town officials, village trustees, the town supervisor, and the mayor. Their presence made the day even more meaningful as we celebrated this exciting addition to our school.
EJA Principal Jim Martino and our students helped make the moment official by cutting the ribbon and opening the playground. And once the ribbon was cut, students got to do what they had been looking forward to most: play on their new playground equipment!
It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and so much excitement as students explored their upgraded play space. Moments like these remind us how special it is to come together as a school community to create new opportunities for our students.
