Last week the Coxsackie-Athens FFA Chapter attended the Greene County Youth Fair. Our FFA members worked alongside of our Greenville FFA friends and were responsible for educating fair visitors on various aspects of agriculture as well as running the food booth. Members met with NYS assemblyman, Chris Tague, watched various livestock shows, and enjoyed everything the fair had to offer. Thank you to everyone who came out to support our FFA Chapter.
The Coxsackie-Athens Central School District would like to congratulate its 18 varsity teams that have qualified the District to be recognized as a 2023-24 “School of Distinction” by NYSPHSAA for a fourth consecutive year!

The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) has developed a Family Resource Toolkit to provide guidance and resources for parents with concerns about their child’s behavior or development.
The toolkit provides:
- Resources with tips and suggestions to support the child and family.
- Guides on how to access community resources.
- Printable resources, such as the attached roadmap poster.

The New York State Museum Opens New Exhibition: "Canine Contrasts: Unraveling Wolves and Coyotes in New York”
The New York State Museum (NYSM) recently announced the debut of its latest exhibition, Canine Contrasts: Unraveling Wolves and Coyotes in New York. The exhibit features Taxidermy mounts and skulls of wolves and coyotes, both species from the Museum’s mammalogy collection. It also tells the story of a wolf that was recently mistaken for a coyote and killed by a licensed hunter near Cherry Valley, New York. To learn more, visit the NYSM website.
The Canine Contrasts exhibit offers a unique opportunity to explore the differences between wolves and coyotes, including their physical and genetic characteristics and habitats. It also shows how the history of coyote-wolf hybridization has made it difficult for hunters and wildlife management agencies to distinguish our ubiquitous eastern coyote from the occasional wolf that wanders outside its core breeding range in neighboring Canada.
The NYSM will host two events related to the exhibit:
- Join Dr. Jeremy Kirchman for the Related Educational Lunchtime Lecture Series "BrainFood for the Curious: Canine Contrasts” in July and August.
- On Wednesday, July 17, at noon in the Huxley Theater, NYSM Curator of Birds and Mammals, Dr. Jeremy Kirchman will host "BrainFood for the Curious: Canine Contrasts with Dr. Jeremy Kirchman," a short talk held during lunchtime in which he will discuss the natural history of wolves and coyotes. Following the talk, Dr. Kirchman will lead visitors to the new exhibit to continue the discussion.
"Brain Food for the Curious: Canine Contrasts with Dr. Jeremy Kirchman," will be held again on Wednesday, August 14, at noon in the Huxley Theater.
